A few weeks ago, I photographed Miss Ashley for her senior portraits. She is getting ready to enter her senior year at Norfolk Catholic High School.
The majority of my sessions are newborns, children, and families, but every once in a while I get to photograph a senior. Seniors are a total different game from children's photography. They already know how to pose, and smile, or not smile, and it is really fun for me to be able to be a little more artsy with my photographs. I start off the senior session in my studio to get a few formal poses that will work for the yearbook, and then the rest we shoot on location. I send the seniors a questionnaire beforehand so I know what their likes and interests are to better customize their portraits. Based on their answers, we will select one or two locations around Norfolk to go to for the remaining portraits.
We got quite a bit of variety from the few locations we visited with Ashley, so I was happy to deliver a unique gallery for her. It was hard picking out my favorites because there were so many, but here are a few from her session.
Are you thinking about scheduling a portrait session for your high school senior? The best time for senior portraits is in the summer before their senior year, or in the fall. I usually schedule seniors on weeknights about one to two hours before sunset. Please contact me today if you are interested. I would love to chat with you about scheduling a session!
