Oh my goodness you guys, I had the sweetest little ladies in my studio for their six month milestone portraits; Miss Laurel and Miss Thea. I had the honor of photographing them as newborns and I will get to see them again when they turn one. I can hardly wait!
As most of you know, I am a twin mama myself, so my heart definitely skipped a beat or two during our time together as I reminisced about my babies who aren't so much babies anymore. It was nice talking to another twin mama who just gets it. Twins are tough but so rewarding at the same time. Six months old is such a fun age, and I was so happy to be able to capture some good smiles from both girls.
We started the session out first with these adorable little blue rompers. I had just purchased this new floral backdrop, so I was happy that their outfits would coordinate with it. I wanted to be sure to get a "safe shot" right off the bat just in case things went downhill fast, so I started the session with this first image of the girls together. It is actually a composite image, meaning that I took two separate images and combined them together in Photoshop. Let's face it, I am not a miracle worker. Trying to get two wobbly little humans to safely sit in a bowl, look at me, and smile simultaneously is next to impossible. I took the easier way out and photographed one baby at a time and then later put them together in post processing. Still a bit of a challenge, as it is pretty tedious work, but I love the results with those great smiles!
After I knew I had smiles from both girls, we did a quick tummy time shot of each of them and moved on to the next set.
Thea got a little upset with me that I made her do tummy time, so I let her have a break and snapped some images of Laurel who was ready to put on the charm.
After Thea had a little break, we brought her back to take some pictures with Laurel together. This time, there was no composite image, just a crazy lady making silly noises to get both of them to look at me at the same time. Twins are tough I tell you, but we did manage to get a good handful of shots with them both looking at me!
After we got the portraits of both girls together, I had a tickle fight with Miss Thea. She could not help but smile!
The final portion of the session was just a simple setup with both girls wearing diaper covers on some pretty pink fur. This was probably the easiest portion our time together because I just cooed, and tickled, and made funny sounds, and got magic from both of them!
What a fun day I had with these girls. I look forward to seeing them in a few short months when we celebrate their next big milestone: Their first birthday!!
